English Language Challenges

Hello bloggers, this is the last post!
It really seemed to me mostly nice, although sometimes I felt that my classmates knew a lot more than I did and that made me afraid, not living up to my classmates.
The use of blogs seemed an interactive and fun way of reviewing English, besides being able to comment on the blogs of my other classmates, in addition to the evaluation forms I also found interesting, the videos above all.
In english I need to improve the writing, it is what costs me the most, I think, because I pronounce well according to what I believe, but it is very difficult to begin to write an idea to me or express it because I have many ways of saying it and I don't know  what would be the most correct way to express myself. I think that the only way to improve in this aspect is to link with more vocabulary and to write more because the more you review more you learn, anyway I do not know if I can do it since my schedule to do other activities during the university year is limited.
Outside of this course I don't use english very much, because I'm not communicating with people who speak the language, so outside the classroom I don't study english, I only translate things I see on the internet, I learn lyrics, but nothing else there

Changes to my study program

Hello people! This post is about my study program.

Regarding my studies I can tell that this is my first year in this career and I’m already a semester late because I failed three classes in my first semester. Yes! I know it sounds very discouraging but this time I took all the classes that I can and the others I postponed them for the next year.

 Also bothers me is that sometimes you need reject a class but you want to take it right away but you should wait a whole semester to take it back, keeping with empty hours and very unproductive. Classes after very long breaks, that should be fixed too.

About the curriculum map I’m not aware of the changes that have been made in the career or those that will be made in the future but at least I think there are many classes that we don’t need, for example we have many hours of math and our career is not a heavy engineering, we are non-mathematical we are agronomists! There are classes that have many pre requirements and others that don’t have any and I think that should be reorganized again. English should be taken as obligatory  and not optional class, our classmates need to leave the career knowing how to communicate in another language.

The infrastructure is still poor compared to other faculties. We are long overdue, not all our rooms have equipment or technologies, a few rooms have heating devices and audio equipment. We have rooms with computers that are bad or run slow. Our faculty is enormous and yet all the hectares aren’t used efficiently.

Summer Holidays

Classes at university end in mid-January, that makes my vacation plans a bit difficult because I always contemplate the idea of having both months to decide where to go, but until now I plan to go to the beach with my friends to a cabin.  Maybe travel to another region of the South or go to Argentina, but I would really like to travel to other countries but I still do not have the money, I would like to go to San Juan de Puerto Rico and visit Istanbul, but maybe will be for the winter holidays.

But the most important thing is that this summer I will be able to sleep a lot, because I love it, maybe I also go to some pool of some friend, or just will go out and will talk with friends in some park.

I think that in summer I will also do my work pending, as sometimes I pose for photographs and lately I have left it  to pay more attention to studies.

Anyway I still feel that the summer will become very short, so I can’t make many plans because I may not be able to do them all.

The previous years when I was of vacations I realized activities, I practiced artistic skating, gymnastics, among others, but at the moment I’m not doing it.

Respect to with whom I will spend the holidays,  I don’t think go out with my family because I find it very boring but with friends.

Medicinal Plants

I don’t use  medicines in general beacuse I’m not a sickly person but sometimes I drink infusions or tea of medicinal plants. I use these because I find them more friendly with the organism and I really don’t have any plantations of any species in particular but my grandma have so many medicinal plants in your garden.

The use of therapeutic medicinal plants is so diffused around the world based in a popular knowledge.

This knowledge has been transferred from ours grandparents to new generations. Plants are considered an alternative to conventional medicine but in sometimes cases this plants takes the importance over the conventional. This is explained by their components because many plants produce special substances in their roots, leaves, flowers, or seeds that help them to survive from insects and animals.

There are a number of studies suggesting that increased intake of these compounds is associated with a less danger of mortality from these diseases that include hypertension, atherosclerosis and diabetes. For example, in the last years, the prevention of cancer and cardiovascular diseases has been associated to the ingestion of nuts vegetables and natural infusions.

As far I as know at the present, the Chilean Ministry of Health has recognized 103 plants aiming to promote the use of medicinal plants that are registered and certified.

But some plants currently consumed by the population can be present collateral effects, take care about this!

Postgraduate Studies

I really haven’t thought much about what to do when I finish the career; I would like to know more of some areas but not to categorize me in a specific area but because they call me attention as what is related to agroecology, agribusiness abroad and energy efficiency here in Chile. 

Agribusiness to learn other forms of teaching and other visions of the other countries, regarding to agroecology I have been told that in Argentina it is a good place to study this area, respect to energy efficiency I would like to study here to review the Chilean case and to be an active agent in the improvement and to be able to educate others in this subject. 

The agribusiness has caught my attention because of teacher I had in chemistry the first semester of my first year in the career, he always talked a lot about the subject and it interested me. 

I would like to take full time and full day courses, more than nothing to pay my all attention to the courses without distractions or external work, for the same reason I don’t know if it would be a good idea to study in parallel, but to devote all my time to study and after graduating, I'll start my work life.

My future as an agronomist

At the moment of leaving the high school had no idea what to study. I really didn’t like anything and I felt that I didn’t fit into anything, but I had to study something so I began to classify the ones I liked because I didn’t like the idea of being enclosed in an office. Then I entered to study agronomic engineering because it could be outdoors and it was a versatile career but I never imagined my future in this place. I love the idea of being able to travel, but not because of work-related issues, but with the income that the job offers me to be able to travel around the world and of course my own country. I’m afraid of the idea of going to work in the south or North, because I would have to stay away from my family and my friends and that’s why I would rather be here in Santiago.

I always think of myself and what I am studying and imagine me doing great things, helping others, making good changes.

Sometimes I would like working directly with soil, another times in the logistics, sometimes even directing the jobs in the field. I know that whatever area I will work in will like me a lot because that’s why I chose this career. 

This is Halloween!

Hi bloggers!

Recently it was celebrated Halloween the last October 31; I thought it was a good topic to share! Even though I no longer went out for trick or treating, I went to a lot of Halloween’s parties the last weekend while my little cousins went out for candies and my grandma bought a lot of candies because in 2015 some kids threw eggs at the house. On Monday I went with my friends to a costume party in a club but we didn’t know it so we were dressed in our normal clothes and we really had a great time although its entry was full and people crushed me to enter.

Regarding to my grandma, she was in home waiting all night but no child went to ask for candies.

I hadn’t had a good Halloween since 2013, that year I made a costume party at my house after asking for candies in the streets. I dressed up of Minnie Mouse with high heel shoes and I could hardly walk but all we laugh about this. Then I got sneakers and danced all night with my best friends. Unfortunately, I lost contact with them but this year was great hanging out with my new friends.
